Recordings of the last royal harpist at the court of the Ganda people, Temusewo Mukasa - the harpist was also the court composer, and these harp compositions were transposed to be played by the royal flute ensemble, the royal xylophone ensemble, and the royal drum ensemble! At the court of the Nyoro people, the Chief was accompanied by a horn ensemble, and two different drum ensembles performed at specific occasions. Mass praise songs at the court of the Ankole people.

This music played at the Ganda court of the Kabaka, the Nyoro court of the Omukama, and the Ankole court of the Omugabe, is great classical African music. As the courts were destroyed by Prime Minister Obote in 1966, we are indeed lucky to have these magnificent recordings by Hugh Tracey.
